Launch the Market
Hit Menu > Downloads if you start out on the home screen
Apps are arranged by latest update. So, scroll through the list to find the app you want nothing more to do with and click it
In the lower right, there is an “Uninstall” button. Click it and a window will pop up asking you to confirm your choice. Hit “Ok” and you are done

It’s that simple. For users wanting a bit more info, you can go into Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications. After clicking on the app, you will see a screen full of data about space used and permissions. Again, there is a handy “uninstall” button on this screen. For those on Froyo, you can also move apps to the SD card from here.

Android 2.2 took away the ability to silence your phone using the volume button. Used to be you’d just hit volume down until you hit silent mode, and that was it. So how do you do it now? A few options: First is to go to the lock screen (press the power button once to turn the screen off, and again to wake the phone) and use the slider. Another is to use a widget button like you see above — there are plenty in the Android Market. Have another option? Share in the comments below. (And if Google wants to add this back in Android 2.3, we’d be OK with that.)

To get wireless networking to work (from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Marvell8686Firmware):

1. Grab the firmware package from Marvell here: http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?driverId=203 and copy it to your computer.

2. Extract the downloaded zip file, then extract SD-8686-FEDORA26FC6-SYSKT-GPL-9.70.3.p24-26409.P45.tar within it. Extract the FwImage folder.

3. Inside there are two files, helper_sd.bin and sd8686.bin. Rename helper_sd.bin to sd8686_helper.bin and copy to your SD card

4. In Mer on SmartQ, open X-Terminal and:

$ sudo mount -t vfat /dev/mmcblk1p1 /media
(password is the one you used when installing)
$ sudo cp /media/sd8686.bin /lib/firmware/sd8686.bin
$ sudo cp /media/sd8686_helper.bin /lib/firmware/sd8686_helper.bin
$ sudo umount /media

5. Reboot.

If people want to be able to connect to WPA/WPA2 networks, they can use this fix:

Pre-requisite:
z USB Cable
z PC (Windows XP or Vista)
z Reset Pin

Steps:
1) Check the firmware version

2) If firmware version is:
C6xxxxx, pls download CiPhoneC6sxxx.exe
C6sxxxxx, pls download CiPhoneC6sxxx.exe
C6txxxxx, pls download CiPhoneC6txxx.exe

3) Double-click CiPhoneXXXX.exe, and follow the instructions to
complete the installation.
4) It pops up a Windows to alert you to plug in the phone.

5) Before you plug in the phone into PC, you have to switch the phone
to “Download Mode”
6) Switch on the phone
7) Press “Power key”, “Volume Up” & “Home Key” simultaneously.
Hold these 3 keys simultaneously and then reset the phone

The phone will enter a “Download Mode”
